Sermon given by Pastor Robb on October 25, 2026.
Continues the fall What Love Looks Like in Low Places sermon series.
Covers Isaiah 58:1-12 and Matthew 5:1-12.
In a complicated and often difficult world, it can often feel like it would be incredibly helpful to have a checklist or sort of formula for what will definitely result in what feels most desirable to us. So we are tempted to frame our religious activity or values as being just that sort of thing. However, the covenantal relationship God invites us to in faith, and the Kingdom we then participate in, don’t work that way. In fact, God consistently tells us that rather than some sort of plug-and-play, “do this to get these results,” our faith and connection with God is a reality that carries us through any and all circumstances. This isn’t always easy, but God promises it is for our and everyone’s best. How can we come to understand and participate in this reality as God reveals it to us?
